Details

Federal Vital-Shok ammunition is a solid choice for hunting deer and other game. Each shell in this box of 5 fires nine pellets of 00 buckshot at a muzzle velocity of 1,325 feet per second. This is a relatively powerful load that will produce significant recoil but excellent terminal performance against midsized animals due to its strong penetration and high energy.

These shells use copper plated shot, which is more resistant to deformation than bare lead. This means the shot will retain its spherical shape as the shell is fired and the pellets travel down the barrel. Since deformed shot has a tendency to fly out of the pattern and waste its energy by missing the target, copper plating enhances accuracy significantly.

Vital-Shok ammo is loaded at Federal's longtime headquarters in Anoka, Minnesota. It is a hunting product line that encompasses both shotshells and centerfire ammunition.
