This 223 ammo by Brown Bear features a 55 grain full metal jacket great for target practice at an affordable price point. This Russian made ammo features lacquered cases which is why the ammo has a brown hue and the lacquer coating is designed to improve feeding and extracting reducing the friction of the case. The bullets have bi-metal jackets (like most Russian ammo) which contains some steel in the jacket so check with your ranges first if they have any restrictions against using ammo that is attracted to a magnet.
This ammo comes packaged in a 500 round case with 25 boxes of 20 rounds each. If you're looking for low cost 223 ammo for your AR-15 and aren't into reloading, then steel cased ammo may be a good fit for you.

Do yourself a favor and just buy brass. Too many of these rounds would not even fire in my rifle. Not fun or safe when you pull the trigger and all you hear is a click. Would NOT recommend. (Posted on 5/14/2017)

Great ammo! Somewhere around 500 rounds down range and no issues. One note absent from the description, these are bi-metal jackets. Primary concern being Sparks and fires. Yes you barrel will wear after 5k rounds, but that's an intended replaceable platform component and you'll still save hundreds of dollars doing so and have a new barrel. (Posted on 4/29/2017)

I shot over 300 rounds of this through my AR before cleaning, and am getting around 1" groups at 80 yards. I've had no misfires or jammed rounds and this is the cheapest stuff I can find. Absolutely a no-brainer for me to keep buying this. (Posted on 3/31/2017)

I've shot about 230 rounds of this through my mini 14. Had a couple FTE's and 2 rounds failed to fire. It feeds and ejects from my mini well enough. Accuracy has been far less than the Federal ammo I have been shooting. 8" groups at 100 yds with brown bear, 3" groups with Federal. (Posted on 1/26/2017)

Gotta start off by saying this is the best price I've found on the interwebs!! Then as range day came, we shot over 200 rounds mostly through a PSA AR15 with a 14.7" chf cl barrel 1/7 twist and a couple mags through an FN SCAR. This ammo is as good as any brass ammo I have found in my Mini 14. My 582 Mini loves all ammo, so my review is somewhat biased. I'm not an AR fan, which is a another heated discussion. Anyhow, good ammo, great price. (Posted on 11/16/2016)

I've only shot about 90 rounds but so far I've had no misfires and no jams from this ammo. Also this ammo doesn't seem to cause excessive fouling and I can't find a better price anywhere. I'll be getting more of this in the future. (Posted on 8/14/2016)

I found that of the three types of ammo I was shooting in my very first AR, the Brown Bear seemed weak and didn't always cycle well. However, this ammo is GREAT in my Ruger American 5.56 bolt action. Cheap to shoot, and got 1 inch five round groups at 75 yards first time out. The guy up there who couldn't hit his target with Brown Bear needs to try harder; this ammo works.

This ammo is a waste of $$$! Is horrible accuracy. We go to the range biweekly and using this ammo I couldn't even hit my target. Previously I was shooting the pec ammo and it was right on. Thought I would save some $$, but if I can't hit the target, what am I shooting for. Also my gun with a scope? Try spotting in a scope with inaccurate ammo!!! A: This ammo may work for your rifle, but most ARs, regardless of brand, have issues with steel cased ammunition. For 100% reliability you should stick with brass cased ammo.
Q: is the full metal jacket bi-metal with steel or is it non ferrous like copper or brass? thank you.
