This 223 Rem cartridge from Winchester’s Super-X line of ammunition sports a 55 grain projectile. This bullet’s core is made of tin rather than lead, so it is perfectly legal to use for varmint hunting where toxic ammunition has been banned, including California. The bullet’s soft core is exposed at its tip, so it will deform on impact to tumble and expand and create an effective wound channel -- any prairie dog that you hit with one of these will cease to be a prairie dog anymore. This bullet’s flat tip means that it will function very well in rifles with tubular magazines, and also that it will punch easily spotted holes through paper targets as well.
