Q: Any ideas how well this would work on wild dogs or cougars?
Posted On: 10/21/11 By: Chris
A: This Hornady Critical Defense ammo would work well on wild dogs or cougars. It will retain a lot of weight in fairly light and thin-skinned animals such as those. Of course, as with any ammo, shot placement is paramount.
Q: I was told that with a 357mag, the speed of the 125 grain bullet makes up for the weight difference of the slower 158 grain. Is this True? Which bullet would be a better choice for hunting Michigan whitetail?
Thanks
Tim

A: This .357 Mag 125gr Hornady FTX load would be a good choice for whitetail deer. So would a 158gr bullet, but the 125gr FTX has a higher ballistic coefficient and won't drop as much at longer range. As with any bullet, shot placement is critical.
Q: What is the impact energy of this round?
Posted On: 9/28/11 By: John
A: The muzzle energy of this Hornady 357 Mag 125gr FTX bullet is 624 ft-lbs. "Impact energy" would depend on distance to target.
