Winchester is one of the most respected ammunition manufacturers in the U.S. and with over 140 years of experience, they deserve that reputation. While they produce a wide range of ammunition, rounds from the Super-X line represent a higher degree of quality as well as increased relative velocity. These cartridges are assembled from reloadable brass casings fitted with non-corrosive Boxer primers.
The 158 grain bullets are heavy for the caliber and provide a smoother recoil impulse for the shooter; this can be especially helpful when firing small J-Frames and pocket revolvers. The 158 grain weight bullets also hold a great reputation for terminal effect in defensive and offensive shooting due to police records from the 70s and 80s. LSWC bullets have a conical shape with a flat tip which is excellent for leaving nice holes in match and training targets. Because the rounds are exposed lead with the cone shape, they penetrate deeply while the soft lead expands on impact without the use of a hollow cavity. That makes these rounds great for defense out of any size revolver. These rounds leave the muzzle of a 4 inch barrel at 755 feet per second while carrying 200 foot-pounds of threat-dropping energy.
