Q: What is the purpose/advantage of an aluminum casing vs. brass?

Posted On: 10/3/11 By: Dale

A: Aluminum cases are slightly lighter and sometimes offer more economical shooting when compared to brass cases. Unlike brass, they are not reloadable.
Q: Whats TMJ??

Posted On: 9/28/11 By: jared

A: TMJ stands for "Total Metal Jacket." Whereas FMJ or "Full Metal Jacket" has a copper jacket covering the nose and sides of the bullet and an exposed lead core at the base (not visible when looking at the cartridge, for it is inside the case), TMJ completely covers the lead core with copper. The primary advantage of this is reducing shooter and bystander exposure to lead, especially when engaged in high volume shooting at an indoor range.
Q: What is the difference between TMJ and FMJ ammo?

Posted On: 9/27/11 By: David

A: Total metal jacket (TMJ) ammunition features a copper jacket around the entire lead core. Full metal jacket (FMJ) ammunition normally exposes the lead core at the base of the projectile, which is not visible when seated in the case, but has led some indoor shooting ranges to allow only TMJ type projectiles in their facilities.
