Each cartridge in this box of 50 fires a medium weight 200 grain total metal jacket (TMJ) bullet at a relatively high muzzle velocity of 975 feet per second. Total metal jackets are very similar to full metal jackets but provide full encapsulation of the bullet's core including its base. This reduces the potential for lead exposure to the shooter when the round is fired and makes this ammo ideal for indoor shooting where ventilation is generally less than ideal. Due to the manufacturing process for TMJ bullets, this ammo can cause shearing when fired through ported barrels and should not be used with them.
Speer ammunition is loaded in Lewiston, Idaho using non-corrosive Boxer primers and reloadable brass cases. Speer is a division of Vista Outdoor and a sister company of CCI. Other members of the Vista Outdoors brand family include Bushnell, Federal, Weaver, and Savage.
