Q: Is this ammo non-corrosive? I assume it is but I don't see it spelled out.

Posted On: 10/21/11 By: Matt

A: Yes, this ammo is non-corrosive.
Q: What about for deer hunting? Thanks!

Posted On: 10/21/11 By: John

A: This S&B 7.62x54R soft point ammo would be a great choice for deer hunting.
Q: I want to shoot hogs, is this powerful enough? I want something with a lot of muzzle energy.

Posted On: 10/20/11 By: Philip

A: Ballistics for Sellier & Bellot 7.62x54R 180gr SP:
Muzzle velocity 2624 fps
100 meter velocity 2253 fps
200 meter velocity 1935 fps
300 meter velocity 1663 fps
Muzzle energy 2360 ft-lbs
100 meter energy 2761 ft-lbs
200 meter energy 2036 ft-lbs
300 meter energy 1501 ft-lbs
100 meter trajectory 0 inches (zeroed)
200 meter trajectory -6.2 inches

Q: Would there be any issues with firing this cartridge in a Mosin Nagant? Some newer ammo you are cautioned against using in the older rifles.

Posted On: 10/1/11 By: Terry

A: This ammo is safe to use in any serviceable firearm chambered for 7.62x54R.
Q: Have you used this as a hunting round, if so how does it compare to say a 30-06 round?

Posted On: 10/1/11 By: Terry

A: The terminal performance of this 7.62x54R 180gr soft point ammo will be very comparable to 180gr soft points from a .30-06 - that is to say, an excellent choice for hunting if you can put the bullet in the right spot.
Q: Even though bulkammo.com does not sell reloading supplies think this question should be relevant to any type of ammunition and ammunition distributor. With the research that I have done, Berdan primed ammunition not only was invented in the U.S., but ignites the powder more evenly giving you better ballistic performance vs. Boxer primed brass. Why don't I ever see match grade ammunition using Berdan primers, and most importantly, why (other than just because) are Berdan primers not manufactured and sold in the U.S. for hand loaders?

Posted On: 9/30/11 By: Erik

A: Berdan primers are generally slightly larger than their Boxer counterparts - meaning that they could only be used in Berdan cases. Berdan primers are also used almost exclusively in steel cased ammunition, which does not lend itself well to easy reloading. The industry has standardized on Boxer primers for brass cased ammunition, and there is practically no demand for this to change.
Q: I'm going hog hunting for my first time! Would this ammunition work best for that? Or do you sell something that would work better for hogs? Thanks!

Posted On: 9/27/11 By: Jason

A: In 7.62x54R, this 180gr SP ammunition would work well for hog hunting.
