Winchester’s Double X is a hot load of 00 Buck that excels for those who want the best penetration, distance and a tight pattern for the 12 gauge. It should be noted that this is not 8 or 9 pellets; it’s 15 pellets in the cup. This is a truly overloaded Magnum. Almost like a Magnum-Magnum in 3-inch shell. The velocity and the payload makes this round capable of taking large game at moderate distances, or for extreme needs on the personal protection/home protection front.

It’s important to note that the penetration expectation would be much higher than a standard load, with the larger amount of pellets, higher velocity and specialty wad that clenches the pellet cup tighter for a bit longer.

The point of the design/production of this round is to take you out another 15 yards or so, for clean, humane kills on big game, than the distance are used to shooting at. The specialty buffers and wads offer a tighter grouping at these extreme distances and ensure you get more pellets on target.
