An awesome choice for range training with your 38 special.

In 1898 Smith and Wesson engineered a cartridge that would hit harder and be more efficient than the U.S. Military’s 38 Long Colt. This new loading was examined and tested multiple times with a 158-grain bullet. It was determined to have more capacity for powder which provided the round with a higher velocity than the 38 Long Colt round it took the place of. The U.S. Military was still using black powder at that time, but later switched over to modern smokeless powder. As time passed, many bullets have been designed to work with the .38 Special cartridge. From various kinds of military-use ball ammo, to multiple civilian hunting and self-defense loads. Even military tracer ammo in .38 Special was given to aircrews for the purposes of signaling after their airplanes had gone down. And other "Specialty Loads" were developed that are still in use for certain "clandestine" purposes. The Smith and Wesson .38 Special loading has an interesting and long history that continues today.

These Magtech “Shootin’ Size”.38 Special rounds are loaded up with a heavy-duty 158 grain copper jacketed, lead core FMJ (Full Metal Jacket) bullet. The bullets are loaded into Magtech’s new, re-loadable, non-corrosive Boxer primed, heavy-wall, yellow brass cases. These loads travel at a subsonic muzzle velocity of 755 feet per second and have a muzzle energy of 200-foot pounds. Whether you get these in 50 round packs, or you buy the 900 round cases, you will have fun with these cartridges. Grab your family and your buds and head out to the shooting range for a day or fun and good training.
