Details

A seriously good choice for those looking for a clean burning powder and a nice shot recognition for dedicated target use. This Federal 200 grain all-lead semi wadcutter hollow point can also be used for self-defense, but it is purpose built for short and medium range target shooting and hunting. There may be better cartridges out there for self-defense, but as a balanced approach this could easily be a single ammo choice for those who mostly target shoot and hunt with their big bore revolvers.

NOTE : the .44 Special is capable of hunting, easily, but it has nowhere near the effectiveness on big game as the .44 Magnum in dedicated hunting loads has.

The excellent reaction of lead on target makes this a brutally efficient hunting round for moderately sized game, and the clean, defined semi-wadcutter profile means your holes on target are not jagged, they are round and clearly identifiable. The premium brass casing is top notch and the Federal standard of reliability needs no mention: it’s a given that if it came out of a Federal factory it will be reliable and consistent. They are just so good at production ammunition offerings. This brass casing and Boxer primer combine to make this an excellent cartridge for reloading. And for dedicated hunters and target shooters this tends to be a very popular hobby.
