Q: What is the core material of this bi metal jacketed bullet, steel or lead? I'm concerned about barrel wear. Are they magnetic?

A: Thanks for reaching out Larry! A bimetal jacketed bullet always has a lead core. Its jacket is made of steel, with a thin copper exterior layer. Steel makes these bullets magnetic, but the steel used to make jackets is significantly softer than the steel used to make barrels. The rate at which bimetal jacketed bullets wear out a barrel is only slightly faster than traditionally copper jacket bullets.
