What more can be said about the .460 S&W Magnum that hasn’t already been said? In similar fashion: What more can be said about the performance of the Hornady Custom line and the Flex-Tip (FTX) projectile that hasn’t already been shown? Combining two powerhouses together is an interesting proposition that yields exceptional results for those who want to grab the maximum potential out of their .460 S&W Mag.

A leading definition of a “Hand Cannon” the .460 S&W is a mighty cartridge that claims to be the fastest big bore revolver cartridge in the world. The recoil and fireball is enormous. In fact, it almost seems that had they wanted to, Smith and Wesson could have produced the round solely for the purpose of making cool fireballs out of the end of a revolver and done just fine with sales figures. As it sits though, this round which is essentially a .454 Casull on steroids, capable of being used in self defense, large game hunting or as a protective weapon in the highly bear-populated wilderness of the northern states and Canada.

The Hornady Custom version of the round means you get essentially a handloaded cartridge from a factory, with heavy attention to detail, and the venerable FTX (Flex Tip) projectile which has enhanced penetration, velocity and energy dump. 200 grains moving at 2200 fps and delivering 2145 ft. lbs of energy at the muzzle.
