Details
This 9mm HST ammo by Federal is an excellent choice for personal defense and is a duty load that many police departments rely on. At 147 grains, this standard pressure 9mm HST ammo performs very well in the FBI test protocols expanding to roughly twice its original size into six petals even through the denim barrier test and generally penetrates within the 12-18" goal. This ammo performs well even through the auto safety glass test retaining close to 90% of its weight which is very impressive and is pretty close to the performance you see out of bonded bullets such as Speer Gold Dot with the added benefit of greater expansion.
This ammo is generally considered subsonic and features nickel-plated cases that are boxer-primed and reloadable. Nickel plated cases have a lower friction coefficient than brass to ensure even better feeding than normal. This ammo is very well reputed and is an excellent choice for concealed carry in case your life is ever on the line.

I have done much research and personal ammo function testing, and nothing beats HST's combination of reliability, accuracy, and ballistics. I've shot in 9mm, 40S&W, and 45ACP, and although I no longer own any 45ACP firearms, I stick with HST for my self-defense ammo needs. Bulkammo.com had it in stock, and for a decent price in today's market (4-stars for bargain, but can't really help the current market, can we?). Will definitely buy again. (Posted on 4/27/2014)

I use this type of round in my 1911. Ballistic reports shows it as one of the better defensive rounds available (in 45ACP). When I got a 9mm pistol I checked and saw that the Federal HST2 round was also recommended. Looked around and could not find it in stock. HST Technology is perfection. Did wet pack tests with the HST 147 and 124 standard pressure....PERFECTION.Every single round looked identical and after weighing the test rounds, the 147's were still 147 and the same with the 124's. Also did wet pack tests on some less expensive JHP's, most failed to expand or fragmented. (Posted on 7/28/2013)

I've been very impressed with the performance of Federal 147gr HST JHP in all three of my 9mm Glocks. It has never failed a single time in over 1,000 rounds, and it shoots comfortably and accurately. This ammo is flawless in my XD-9 subcompact and my XDm- 9 3.8 Compact. In testing I found that the 147 grain HST had better expansion but about 2 inches less penetration than the 124 drain +P HST. This ammo will definitely stop the threat! (Posted on 6/4/2013)

I have always and will always trust Federal 147gr HST JHP in my 92FS. It's reliable, and never had an issue yet with the hundreds of rounds I've put through it. I wouldn't trust anything else. The cost of this round is well worth it's weight in gold. (Posted on 9/25/2012)

I was having some issues with my new Sig P938. It either finally had enough rounds to break in, or this Ammo did the trick. I think it was a bit of both and I am now happy with the Tool and the Ammo. (Posted on 9/14/2012)
