The TAP name from Hornady’s various lines of ammunition is synonymous with duty proven, law enforcement influenced and driven product that is made for use on human targets. This is a tactical shooting product that is not made for hunting but rather for defensive or offensive tactical purposes. That said it can also be used for hunting, but it is purpose built for other scenarios. The TAP and FPD tags stand for “Tactical Application for Police” and “For Personal Defense”. This ammunition is a perfect option for those looking for defensive home protection shooting or for tactical loadouts for police or law enforcement. Generally, it is very effective on targets of 125-400 lbs, though to can be used on larger targets with efficacy. The build quality of the load is exceptional, as with all the TAP/FPD rounds – without reliability and positive feeding, ignition and extraction, the performance of the projectile would be a moot point. A lot of care and some serious production and facility protocols go into the overall ecosystem of the TAP/FPD rounds by Hornady. They are among the finest producers from a quality control perspective. The tolerances and measurements and ballistics of the cartridges are very consistent. The velocity numbers maintain tight variances. The accuracy is at just over 1MOA and below. The reliability is second to none.

This is a 110 grain polymer tipped projectile in a nickel plated case with a low flash complete burning powder.
