This 20 Gauge shell by Fiocchi Munizioni is loaded with one ounce of #5 lead shot. Like many boxes of shells loaded with this shot size, this one features a handsome pheasant front and center. It’s a not so subtle clue that #5 shot is great for that bird, as it’s big enough to penetrate the scrub that they may hide or fly behind, and certainly powerful enough to bring them down. This shell’s 1,220 fps muzzle velocity is in no way inadequate for the task. It’s not a bad choice for home defense, either, provided that you use it at an effective range of 10 to 20 yards. (Any further and it may not penetrate well enough to be effective.)
