This Tula ammo gets its name from its birthplace in Tula, Russia. Tula Cartridge Woks was founded in 1880 and is currently one of the largest ammo plants in the world. These hollow point rounds feature a polymer coated steel casing and non-corrosive Berdan Primers. They are engineered with bimetal jackets that contain steel and copper and have lead cores that result in improved ballistic characteristics. The polymer coating creates a rugged coating that helps keep its qualities in extreme temperatures from the Arctic to the Sahara.

The 5.45x39mm round is a Soviet designed cartridge for the AK 74 series of weapons to include short carbines, rifles and light machineguns. This cartridge was designed to replace the heavier and older model 7.62x39 cartridge to provide a lighter weight with less recoil and to be easier to control for the military.
