The 40-grain bullet achieves a muzzle velocity of 1655 feet per second..
This ammo has comparable ballistics to SS197SR hollow-point ammunition; both fire a heavier bullet at somewhat slower velocities than other 5.7x28mm ammo. Each box contains 50 rounds of ammo in reloadable FN-manufactured brass cases.

I bought 500 rounds of this stuff years ago when I first bought my 5.7 pistol. Several jams, and never on target with this ammo. FN ammo, no jams and tear up the bullseye. This ammo is not even good enough for plinking. (Posted on 12/19/2022)

Purchased 500 rounds of A.E. 5.7x28 as practice ammo. First box of 50 discovered 2 rounds that weren’t seated correctly. The bullets fell out of the brass casing and gunpowder spilled everywhere. Of the other 48 rounds remaining, I had two failures to fire where striker on FN handgun hit primer but didn’t ignite powder, and 1 shell casing jammed. Until A.E. improves quality, I’m buying FN rounds exclusively. (Posted on 11/8/2017)

I've had about every variation of the 5.7 for years now. I finally decided to try the American Eagle Ammo after shooting nothing but FN ammo. My first outing with it was last night. I had 7 jams, one bullet came out and spilled powder all in the gun, and 3 misfires. Swapped to a mag loaded with FN ammo, zero issues. This ammo is junk. Shoots no more than about 8 rounds before you have an issue. Falls apart easy. Do not recommend it at all. (Posted on 4/13/2017)

Brought a new FN five-seveN recently and shot about 60 rounds, not a missed round, no hangers, no stove pipes. However, I thought the rounds were going high and right, so I am going to adjust the sight and see what happens. Overall, I will buy more federal 5.7 with pleasure. (Posted on 11/1/2016)

Very reliable and accurate ammo. Never had a problem with the 2 57 pistols I own. If you are thinking of buying an FN 57 go for it they are a blast to shoot (Posted on 6/24/2015)

Fired these through a PS90. Was concerned about reliability after reading some reviews, but I didn't have even a single issue from the box I ordered to try out. Worked well and grouped exceptionally well in my rifle. I prefer the SS197's, but these will work too. (Posted on 4/18/2015)
