Details

Silver bear Ammunition is affordable and reliable ammunition from the Barnaul Ammunition plant in Russia. The name Silver Bear comes from the use of zinc plated steel casings used in the manufacturing of Barnaul Silver Bear Ammunition Products. Barnaul produced over half of the small arms ammunition used by the Soviets during World War II. Barnaul is currently the largest manufacturer of small arms ammunition in Russia.

This 115 grain 9mm ammunition from Barnaul is steel cased and zinc coated for corrosion resistance and reliable feeding and extraction. This ammunition is perfect for plinking and target shooting, and generally not recommended for defensive use. Ammunition is loaded with copper jacketed over lead bullets. Muzzle velocity is hovering right around 1180 feet per second.

Ammunition is Berdan primed, steel cased, non-reloadable.

A: While some may argue that steel or aluminum cased ammo may cause wear to the chamber of the barrel, we have been unable to find any evidence of this on any modern firearm. I would expect to see wearing of the barrel from normal use prior to damage of the chamber. This normal barrel wear may only be evident while shooting at greater distances after the gun has been fired in excess of 80,000 to 100,000 rounds. Like all pistols, one will prefer to perform better with some brands of ammo over another. I would suggest trying a few boxes of the Silver Bear to see how it performs for you and your pistols. Silver Bear, Brown Bear, Tula, and other steel cased pistol rounds we sell are loaded with non corrosive components. The nickel cased cartridge is a nickel coating over the traditional brass round. Shooters consider this more desirable as there is usually reduced friction during the loading process. This will increase reliability for cycling rounds and is one reason why you will find most self defense (JHP) ammo loaded in nickel casings.
