Details

This case of Wolf ammo includes 500 rounds of 9mm steel cased ammo featuring a 115 grain full metal jacket projectile. This projectile has a bi-metal jacket which contains steel to help keep the cost of the product low but is then washed with a light coating of copper to reduce bullet wear. Further, these steel cases are coated in a proprietary polymer coating to improve extraction and feeding while also reducing wear on your firearm.

This ammo is a low cost solution to reduce the cost of your favorite hobby helping to keep your skills well honed. This ammo is manufactured in Russia and is berdan-primed, non-corrosive, and non-reloadable.

A: Hello Fred, This ammunition is loaded with a lead core, bi-metal jacketed projectile. Due to the steel content in the jacket, this ammunition will not pass a magnet test.

A: No. The major components of your handgun that contact the case are made from hardened steel or anodized aluminum, both of which have far higher surface hardness levels than the mild steel cases used in this Wolf ammo. Additionally, there are high temperatures and extreme pressures involved in the firing of centerfire pistol ammunition that cause far more wear than the brass or steel cases could ever cause.

A: Wolf ammo is made in Russia using steel cases and bimetal jackets. Russian environmental laws and labor costs lead to lower costs for the manufacturer. Federal ammo is made in the USA with brass cases and copper jackets. Environmental, health, etc laws and higher wages/benefits for American workers lead to higher prices.

A: Steel cased ammo such as this Wolf acts differently in the chamber, allowing some fouling to build up where it would otherwise not do so with brass cased ammo. However, it is fairly easy to remove this fouling with a good chamber brush.

A: No, the forces placed on your pistol by the ammunition firing are much greater than the difference between brass and steel. You will wear out many parts before having to worry about the effects of steel cases in your pistol.

A: Corrosive primer compounds are no longer used in the vast majority of new production ammunition, including this Wolf ammo. Berdan primers are a physical design, not a designation of corrosive compounds being used in the case. These Wolf 9mm cases are primed with lead styphnate primers, which are non-corrosive.

A: You might consider buying some of the bulk 9mm 115gr +P JHPs. However, practicing with standard pressure ammo and carrying with +P is far better than not practicing at all.
