Many of the most troublesome animals are too small to be reliably intercepted by a single projectile. The solution? Many projectiles, such as those thrown by this handy-dandy American-made 38 Special pest control shotshell.
You’ll find no bullet in this here cartridge. It’s loaded with a plastic capsule containing 80 grains of #8 shot. That’s bismuth shot, mind you – nontoxic, and therefore permissible wherever lead isn’t. Bismuth is still pretty dense (9.6 g/cc, as opposed to lead which is 11.3). That means you’re not parting with very much striking power in exchange for lead-free performance!
CCI is owned by the same company as Federal, so they had little problem getting their hands on the Minnesotan company’s clean, hot-burning and lead-free Catalyst primers. Just take care that aluminum cases aren’t reloadable (they are too rigid to return to their original dimensions after ignition).
