A: Thanks for reaching out! If you have a double action 45 Long Colt revolver, then you may be able to fire 45 ACP with the aid of a moon clip – though your cylinder may not currently be compatible with a moon clip. If you have a single action 45 Long Colt Revolver, then you would have to swap out its cylinder. In short, a 45 LC revolver can't fire 45 ACP without some modification, unless you've got a revolver that's designed to fire both as-is such as the S&W Governor.

A: Hi Nick! This case of ammo contains 20 boxes total. Each box of 50 contains a little plastic tray to hold its rounds neatly.

A: Great question! The short answer is that in properly functioning magazines and drums, Sellier and Bellot ammo performs beautifully. So yes, you can use this ammo in a Thompson 100 round drum. However, some of the Thompson 100 round drums have a reputation for feed issues. Especially the older, original ones owing to age, spring wear, and possibly dirty or deformed feed lip area. This will cause issues with any ammunition you use in it. If you have a drum with these types of issues, no ammo will reliably feed in it until those issues are corrected.

A: Unlike oats, wheat, or rice, ammo has no specific shelf life. Ammo that is many decades old has been found to still be perfectly reliable. Ammo should be stored in a cool, dry place, away from sources of heat and moisture or water.

A: No, .45 ACP will not knock a person down. Yes, shooting them in the heart or brain is likely to be fatal, but during a gunfight, stress will limit your ability to make such precise shots. Hollowpoint ammunition will limit overpenetration and also cause more tissue damage, which is more likely to lead to rapid incapacitation.

A: .45 ACP 230gr ammunition traveling at 850fps (the standard .45 ACP load) will drop approximately 9 inches at 100 yards, assuming that the pistol was "zeroed" at 25 yards. You might wish to try lighter, higher velocity loads for shooting long distances with a .45 pistol, such as 185gr ammunition at roughly 1000fps, but if you know your holdover, you can be just as effective with the slower, heavier projectiles.

A: This Fiocchi 230gr FMJ .45 ACP ammunition has a muzzle velocity of 853fps. With a 25 yard zero, it will impact approximately 3 inches low at 50 yards.

A: Sellier & Bellot ammunition is manufactured in the Czech Republic. Interestingly enough, Sellier & Bellot was established in 1825 to meet the needs of the Austrian Emperor, Franz I.
