This 6.5 Creedmoor cartridge is loaded with Hornady’s 129 grain Super Shock Tip – a bullet which combines excellent accuracy, weight retention and terminal expansion to create a deer’s worst case scenario.
Ths SST has a high 0.485 G1 ballistic coefficient, which essentially means it excels at overcoming frontal air resistance so that it can fly flatter and conserve greater energy downrange. The SST’s low-drag secant ogive jacket profile, sharp polymer tip and angled boat tail all help it retain at least 1,000 ft lbs of whitetail-thumping energy until about 566 yards!
When a bullet’s core and jacket separate after impact, it loses the weight and momentum it needs to penetrate deeply. That is why the SST’s core and jacket are mechanically locked together in two places: the toothed mid-body cannelure, and the InterLock ring.
