Federal probably didn’t spend too much time picking out a name for their Field & Range line of shotgun ammunition. The name they chose really does say it all: Here you have a 20 Gauge load that’s just as good for hunting as it is demolishing clays!
This shell is loaded with #8 lead shot, which is indeed a stellar choice of shot regardless of whether you have a few rounds of trap or a date with some upland game birds lined up. This shell’s lead shot is extra hard, so it remains spherical enough to maintain a dense pattern and also averts deformation that could produce too shallow a wound channel.
Federal’s Triple Plus wad system comes in two pieces: a long shot cup, which cradles the rigid shot so it cannot etch the inside of a shotgun’s barrel, and a base which creates a tight seal against the bore that makes propellant gasses more efficient at propulsion. This low-brass load’s clean-burning powder sparks up to deliver a steady 1,210 fps muzzle velocity, and it also burns up clean to minimize carbon fouling.
