Most premium self-defense bullets are advertised for their high weight retention and inability to break apart after collision with the threat. But this Syntech Defense 40 S&W cartridge, by Federal Premium? Its bullet takes a dramatically different approach!
The segmented hollow point doesn’t expand in the traditional sense. It instead splits apart into multiple pieces: three petals that each go off in their own separate directions, tracking wound channels at least 6” long in the process; and one core, which pounds a wound column as deep as 18” through bare ordnance gelatin, as well as gel that is protected by heavy clotting.
This is some of the cleanest ammo you’ll ever fire. Its Catalyst primers don’t share one atom of lead between them, and its SHP bullets are coated in Syntech. Its an advanced polymer material (blue, in this case), which prevents any part of the SHP’s lead core from contacting the barrel, does away with copper fouling altogether, and reduces friction in the interest of extending the barrel’s lifespan!
