Talk about a bulk buy – with this, you’ll get two cases of M855 ammo in ammo cans – with individual boxes inside breaking up your 1800 round haul into 20 round increments!

The standard for ammunition for the AR/M4 platform, this cartridge offers a significant improvement over standard ball ammo from generations past. It is a 62 grain stabilized projectile that moves out of the muzzle at 3100 FPS. This load features a stabilizing steel penetrator component jacketed inside of the projectile. Combined with a copper jacket it maintains the barrel life without losing long distance terminal performance.

On the most practical level, when the military rifle that utilized the 5.56x45 was introduced, the thick forest of the campaign being fought required a heavy bullet for penetration through multiple layers of leaves. Instead of changing all the engineering and wasting all the money put into the platform, a series of improvements were undertaken to improve the performance of the cartridge.

What exists now in the form of the Federal Lake City M855 ammunition is the apex predator of the 5.56 mass produced military spec ammunition. Ultimately the brainchild of this series’ of improvements. It’s reliable, accurate, has a better deflection capability for environmental conditions (wind, etc.) and offers better ballistics than any other contracted ammunition for the platform.

It sets the standard by which all other “ball” ammo for the 5.56x45 is judged. 20 rounds in each box 90 boxes in each case.
