I was running MBI 124 grain 9mm through a Browning Hi-Power Practical on Monday of this week (6/10/24), when I experienced a case rupture that blew the base plate off the magazine (KRD 17-round) and dumped the remaining ammo at my feet. I was not injured, but the magazine was beyond repair. The gun was not damaged and continued to function normally with different ammo for the rest of the day. I didn't purchase this MBI ammo. I "inherited" it from a relative who use to shoot but had to give it up fpr heath reasons. I've seen one other report of a blow-out with MBI 9mm in a Glock that was catastrophic and injured the shooter. A case blow-out such as I had can only be attributed to defective brass. It's a risk you run with remanufactured rounds. I would never buy MBI ammo after this experience. (Posted on 6/14/2024)

IMHO. I've shot nearly 7000 rounds of 9 and another 9000 rounds of 40 with maybe one bad round that I wrote off to a dirty gun. All the same, I'll keep buying as long as the quality stays the same. Pretty good ammo for the money. Had one dispersion rouind with failure to eject. Resulted in stovepipe. Not a bad lot of ammo considering that I only use this for range ammo. Resulted in good training for the wife. Just remember that it is bulk REMANUFACTURED ammunition. I have a Browning Hi-power in 9mm and run this ammo almost exclusively. Last weekend was a teaching weekend for me and a couple of friends, and this was the go to ammo and pistol. We, 3 shooters, put more than a thousand rounds of this ammo through the pistol, not a single FTF or any other problem at all. We also shot about 400 rounds of various NEW box of branded ammo just to see what the difference in feel of different bullet weights and loads might be. We had a 3% fail rate with the branded ammo. I will give some of that to a very dirty gun. But when we went back to this bulk ammo, the gun went back to its perfect record of making noise every time we pulled the trigger. I've ordered 1k packs of this ammo at lest twice now, maybe 3x. The package comes with a semi-random assortment of cartridges, including one or two that were allegedly +P according to the headstamp (although they felt normal when shooting). Regardless of this, each cartridge looks more or less the same, and is all brass. This is key since my range doesn't like steel case (I gave up fighting them on it). I have had very few, if any, malfunctions with multiple semiauto pistols, so I highly recommend.
Is consistently the cheapest brass FMJ in volume. Highly recommended if you A. don't want to deal w/ steel case malfunctions or B. frequent an indoor range where they only allow brass. (Posted on 4/22/2017)

This was my first time ordering this ammo in 9mm. I have run several thousand rounds in .40 and was very pleased until my most recent order. My most recent order was ordered at the same time as this 9mm. This order had several quality control issues. I have used apx. 500 rounds of this 9mm and had several fail to fire or light primer strikes, apx. 25 with issues.
After the high level of quality I had previously experienced with the .40 ammo I had ordered I expected the 9mm to be of the same high quality. I feel as though maybe the quality control standards are lower than when I first started using MBI ammo. (Posted on 4/19/2017)

I have 700 rounds shot with no issues with Sig Sauer P320. I had 3 missfires and 2 squibs with brand new Ruger LCR9 in 50 rounds. Sent Ruger Back for new firing pin and spring to Manufacture. You can't beat the price for what you get. The ammo is brass cased and of relatively good quality for range use. I use it to proof firearms, zero, and plink. I just purchased 2,000 rds of MBI reloaded ammo and headed off to the range. My Springfield XDM and M&W MP9 ate through the ammo with no problems but my Springfield XDs had major problems. The 3rd round jammed and was easily corrected. The 7th round was jammed and could not be forced out. I then took my jammed pistol to a gunsmith, who cleared it after 10 minutes of work. I've had more problems with this ammo than I have had with any ammo in any gun in my entire life. many fail to load and fail to eject. many fail to fire. the last one was a squib load after that I was done with this. I'm just about finished with my 3rd order of 1000 rounds of mbi ammo. Many reviews bashing this ammo but I've never experienced any failures or malfunctions. Maybe just my luck, Maybe it's just that I use a Beretta 92fs which seems indifferent to ammo selection. I bought 1,000 rounds of this and it was junk. Couldn't shoot 2 in a row without jamming in my glock. Any other ammo I had shot fine. Upon inspection it was apparent that many of the cartridges were bulged and several of the bullets had been set too deep. Just had to throw 970+ rounds away so it sure wasn't a bargain. Bought my 1st 1,000 rnds of this ammo for a vehicle class in late May. The ammo was extremely clean shooting. Shot 500-600 rnds in 2 days. Had one squib which could have been catastrophic had it not got stuck in the barrel where it did causing the gun to not go into battery by 1/4 of an inch. I think I had two hotter loads where my slide on my m&p shield got stuck open. Perhaps it is the gun. I have also used it in my Springfield xd9. Shoots well seems very accurate too. I have been to the range a few times with this ammo, put about 400 rounds so far through my XD9. On the last bag of 100, I had a critical failure to eject not once but twice and one 2 different guns. I had a FTE first on my Glock 19, then immediately following that on my XD9. Both were loaded from the same bag. I was able to remove the casing on each gun luckily, and I found that the casing had expanded too much in the barrel. Nothing major now that I know about it and know what to expect, but just be sure you are near a good sturdy table to force that slide back with. (Posted on 3/20/2016)

I haven't had problems with sqibs, but bulges and imperfections in the reloads are very noticeable. I ran through 800 of it, 1000 goes a long way if you don't shoot much. I ran it in every 9mm handgun I have and the only failure to fire was light primer strikes. I used a Beretta M9, Walther P99, Sig P228, HK USP with 6" BBL, and Kahr PM9. I do not recommend for accuracy testing or defensive use past 10 yards. Other than that, for the price, I would use it to break in a new gun if this is the cheapest you can find. Ordered early Friday afternoon in south Atlanta, GA. Delivered the next day (Saturday) by FedEx Home Delivery. I ran 200 rounds through my new S&W SD9VE with zero FTF or FTE. I did find one round in the 200 that had bad clamp/press marks from reload and chose not to use it. I also found two aluminum cartridges mixed in with the brass in one bag. For these reasons I gave 4 stars for bargain. Otherwise I am very pleased with the performance, reliability, and cost per round. Other than the test round fired at the factory these were the first cartridges in my S&W and cleaning after the range revealed that these burn relatively clean. There was, however, a fair amount of soot at the end of the muzzle. Overall I am very pleased and will buy these again at such a reasonable price. (Posted on 10/3/2015)

I recently picked up a CZ 75D Compact PCR as my first handgun. As you all know, the associated expenses rack up quickly, including range ammo. After reading basically every review, I decided to give this offer a try.
The very first round I loaded up failed to fire.. but have had 499 successful fires since! These rounds were a little taller than the Remington ammo I usually buy at the range, but they loaded and ejected from my PCR just fine.
My only concern really is there were a few (6 in 500 so far) steel/nickel plated shell casings mixed in. My range does not permit steel casings, and though I am sure these are nickel plated (haven't tested them yet), I've just kept them at home for now.

I bought 1,000 rounds of this ammo for the range. I've gone through about 300 rounds in my Glock 19 and have had two squibs and three failure to fire with the primers punched. I was lucky and both squibs only went a short distance down the barrel which did not allow a second round to chamber. Had the bullet traveled 1/8th inch farther it would have cost me a minimum of a new barrel… possibly MUCH WORSE! After further inspection of the ammo I've discovered that not only are these reloads, but the brass is all over the place. I've identified brass from at least four different manufacturers all in the same 100 count bag. On the plus side, the ammo does shoot clean and it is accurate on the range when it works. I don't know why but i missed the reload factor for the rounds - i must have left the normal ammo page and come back to this one and ordered. I had one stovepipe in a Sig in the first 50 shots and a second wouldnt even load in the next 50. I have a glock19. I decided to try out 100 rounds at the range, from the first bag out of the 1000. In that bag there was one 9mm Auto and one that is very similar to a 9x19, but it has Israeli script on the case and the bullet was shoved in to the brass.
The 9mm auto just jammed my gun, but with a little effort the round came out.
The other round, fit in my clip and cycled to the chamber, but oddly enough the firing pin didn't strike the primer. I pulled the slide back and the round didn't extract from the chamber. It was really jammed in the chamber. I eventually got it out, but the bullet was shoved so far in the shell casing that it was short enough to look like the action was closed, but it wasn't. I don't know what the casing was for, but the bullet was a 9mm inside of a casing it wasn't supposed to be inside of.

I have 3 9mm handguns: a sccy cpx-2, a S&W sw9ve, and a Taurus 905 revolver.
1. The Sccy cpx-2 usually has about every fourth round as a failure to eject.

I have shot 200-300 rounds between of my ruger pp95 and my kel Tec pf9 with no problems. And pretty accurate. However with my kel Tec Sub2000 it jams during ejection maybe 2-3 times out of 10. So it's useless for that gun. I'd recomment buying smaller bulk first to see if you gun likes this ammo. (Posted on 12/9/2014)

This is an update to a prior review. I had accepted the fact that, at this price, there might be some sizing issues, so I case gauged every round of this stuff before taking it to the range. This resulted in the discarding of about 5% of the rounds I received.
The real problem occurred last night when I got a squib round, which barely entered the chamber, in the middle of some training drills. It made almost no noise so was not detected audibly, which leads me to believe it was a primer-only discharge. I was lucky solely because the squib was seated far enough in the rear of the barrel to prevent the next round from chambering. Otherwise there could have been a serious problem.
As a result, I am breaking down the remaining rounds from this purchase and will reload them myself. My daughter shoots often with me, and the thought of any injury as a result of a quality control problem is just not something I can stomach. (Posted on 12/5/2014)

98% worked fine but there was a lot of sorting the types and some that i did not shoot about 10 that looked like chess bishops and 5 or 6 rusty ones only 2 that the round was in the case to far for me to feel ok with shooting it. so long story short upgrade, but bulkammo is the way to go. and when you see a deal buy because if it rains in Fiji there will be a run on guns and ammo. 2000 rounds through S&W MP, absolutely no problems. Would agree with comment about bigger bang, but most target ammo is 115 gr, this is 124gr. Not appreciably dirtier than other ammo (federal, Remington) that I've used. It will be ammo of choice for the range. (Posted on 10/23/2014)

The ammunition has quite a bang to it. I find it harder to keep on target than my friend's ammunition that he hand loads. I get so little recoil with that I can run my entire 17 round magazine (I have an FNX-9mm) several seconds faster than with this ammunition and get better groups. Still, this ammunition is consistent and I wouldn't say that it's noticeably different in performance from other commercial ammo.

I fired over 100 rounds of this over the weekend and was a bit concerned when it wouldn't run in my Bersa BP9CC. I'd get misfires at least 1 round for every 8 and often 2 or 3. The primer would be dented, but no bang. I used three different magazines, one of which was brand new, and none had better results.
Strange thing is, I could put it in my friend's Beretta and it would fire no problem. Stranger, it would fire the rounds that misfired in my Bersa.
Thinking that maybe my Bersa was having firing pin issues, I took it to the range the next day and, sure enough, it started misfiring. I went upstairs and checked out a Glock 17 from the rental case. I ran a full magazine of this ammo through it and put all 17 within a 1.5 inch group.
I then ran three other brands of 9mm through my Bersa, to include Federal aluminum case, and all ran no problem. Thankful that my gun was functioning properly, I ran more through the Glock and then went up and checked out a Sig P230. I ran another 100 rounds of this ammo through the Sig with no problems.
That left me with the conclusion that the ammo was good, my Bersa was good, but the ammo wasn't good in my Bersa.
No problem. Even though I bought 1000 rounds of this, I have 600 or so more to run through rental guns and friends' guns.
I'd recommend ordering one bag of 100 and run it through your gun before taking the dive for an order of 1000.

I've bought a total of 6 bags (6,000 rounds) of this stuff. I've really had no problems with it. I use it in my tactical classes and never had a misfire/jam/squib. I honestly don't know what the bad reviews are here and there. I've gone through a little over 2,000 rounds now and no issues to speak of. Bought 1000 rounds for use on the target range. Got 3 squibs(primer goes off, powder, doesn't lodging the bullet in your barrel) within the first 200 I fired. These rounds are totally unsafe and should not only never be purchased, but should be pulled from this website. A squib round can cause serious injury. These rounds are worse than trash. Do not buy! I'm curious as to why so many people blame the ammo instead of their gun? I run either an EAA Witness or Taurus 24/7Pro and never have had an issue with this ammo. It's not the cleanest ammo I've used but no failure to feed or fire issues. If you even think of using FMJ ammo as defense rounds you need to take a class or two on defensive shooting. Also, run the ammo through a different firearm just to be sure. Glock's are only reliable with certain brands/types of ammo. Not the ideal firearm to have in a SHTF situation when you might need to use any ammo you can find. I had a Kahr CW40 that worked fine with FMJ ammo but stovepiped any hollow point rounds I tried to feed it. I no longer own that pistol. If it won't eat what I feed it then someone else can have it. I purchased 1000 rounds of this ammo. Shipping was fast, so I gave it a star. Out of the 1000 rounds that I have fired, 39 jammed the action and had to be dealt with. Another 4 failed to feed at all, I mean that I could not get them to chamber. I checked the diameter of the round and found it to be 0.088" larger than maximum specs. I shot about 300 rounds of these that I got from lucky gunner. Their website has 4.5 stars from over 250 reviews. I don't see how these are any different, but apparently people are having problems. I used to be a fan of MBI: cheap, reliable, and plentiful practice ammo. In the latest case, though, I encountered a round that was so far out of spec that it jammed my Glock 34 so bad that I had to take a hammer to the back strap to get the slide open. I bought 1000 rounds and have almost finished them as I write this review. I have read what others have written and I wouldn't want to suffer the problems they have had with poor quality control. Ordered this ammo and had no problems until the other day when using it at the range. The slide on my Glock 19 froze. I tried to get it to move but it would not budge I had the owner of the range look at it and he had no luck as well. He suggest a local gunsmith so I took it there and he was able to get the shell out and free the slide. It was a loaded round that jammed the gun. He pointed out a problem with this reload! I had the same experience with the 40 cal bulk reload ammo freezing the slide on my FNX 40 which I had to send back to the FN to get fixed (shipping costs, etc.). I will not buy this ammo again. I've purchased 1000 rounds on two occasions. I don't recall a single misfire. I don't use it for self defense, but rather just target practice. I have ordered this ammo in the past (prior to 12/20/12) with good results. The last shipment I received this past May has had 2 over-sized casings (out of 250 fired) that were jammed up into the barrel, obviously causing a failure to fire and I was lucky no severe damage was done to my handguns. Had no idea that I was buying reloads until the third jam. Since I cannot free the round without help the range master who was helping me took a look at the ammo and he pointed out the various misshapen jackets. I've since sorted about 20% of the order and it appears that at least 10% is possibly un-usable.

Shot 200 - 300 rounds with 2 major jams. The first was after firing and the spent casing had to be knocked out with a rod. Guess it was a hot load as the case was "larger in diameter" than the others.
The secon jam was before firing. The shell wouldn't go all the way in nor could I eject it. Took it to a gunsmith who removed the shell and pointed out that the casing was too large.

I shot about 50 rds the other day at the range and did not have any misfires or feeds like some have experienced. As far accuracy, I really didn't check for it since I was using my Shield. Bargain...only 3 stars only because I find it too expensive for what it is....but that goes for most all popular calibres these days....

Bought 1000 rounds. Fired 100 rounds thru a SR9C, jammed up 4 times really bad! Had to have guy from shooting range get a metal rod with plastic tip to drive them out!! They suggested when I take my gun down to clean to drop test rest of ammo in barrel to see if they hang. tested 400 rounds over 35 hung up!!! i purchasded 1000rds, loaded 10rds in my glock 26,1st round fired, 2nd round fired and the entire round was jammed in the gun. I could not rack to eject the round. These are very dangerous. I test each round before loading by dropping the round in the barrel to see how it rests, 4 out of 10 sit to high in the barrel. That shows you that round would never function properly or safely.

Purchased 1000 rounds and went to the range with a Glock 19. In 100 rounds had 4 FTF, 2 jams and the last jam had to be removed with tools. Using the barrel out of the gun for gauging found a high number (23 out of 200) would not seat properly due to expanded brass. It takes time to sort but if there are too many that will not chamber properly the per round shot price goes up to where I will have to consider new brass. i've purchased 2000 rounds of this ammo for my g26. i've shot around 600 rounds and it seems to shoot well and it pretty clean. however, last time i was at the range i had a jam, a bad one. It took about 5 mins to clear and upon inspection the base of the case was flared and too big. I bought 1000 rounds. Went to the range yesterday and took 300 rounds. The first 50 - 60 rounds were good. After that point the ammo started giving me problems.
On average 1 in every 10 rounds either failed to eject or failed to feed properly (the slide did not completely return to it's ready position). I had to hit the slide to move it forward on the times the ammo did not feed properly.
On three occasions I could not even rack the slide completely. The slide only moved about a quarter inch. I had to bang the back of the slide against the concrete wall. And that can be a dangerous thing to do.
One one occasion the bullet did fire but the casing was left stuck in the barrel. I had to disassemble the gun and take the pin out so the barrel would come out. I also had to force the casing out of the barrel. My guess is that the casing expanded too much when it was fired. At that point I just gave up on the ammo. I didn't want to deal with manually taking bullets out of the barrel. I had only used about 200 rounds.
Today I took factory ammo to see if it was the gun or the ammo. No problems with the factory ammo today. So, my guess is that the MBI ammo is not very reliable.
Now I still have 800 rounds of unreliable ammo. Maybe they'll make good paper weights. (Posted on 4/2/2013)

I have shot thousands of rounds of MBI ammo. I trust that all tolerneces are inspected. The wife and I went to practice at the range. It had been the better part of a year since she aquainted herself with her XDsc 9mm. 3 mags 10rds each no problem. The second set on the 60th round fired that day her XD KB'd. I have no explaination, I didn't see it happen I was setting up but some fellow patrons were watching and wondered if they were reloaded rounds. I had forgot that these are in fact reloads. With that said at this point we have no idea why this happened. The round casing is still in the chamber and on initial inspection it looks like the pin pierced the primer. Then the round blew out on both ends. Or it is possible the bullet was crimped too tight. We don't know, I've talked to SA and they will make the determination based on their inspection. Package arrived as scheduled. The box was intact, but corners and edges were rounded, and the box was soft. Ive seen how these carriers handle the product, so I think BA may want to stiffen up their packaging. Just a thought. The ammo shot very clean with not 1 FTF or FTE. Bought 600 rounds of this stuff as a gamble. 50 for $10?! You have my attention! Then I read some reviews that had me second guessing myself. Well they showed up in like 2 days and I'm amazed! My Sig p229 was so clean after 300 rounds that I couldn't believe it. Far cleaner than with WWB. Not one failure. All were brass. I've shot over five hundred of the 124grain, 9mm though my S&W M&P 9mm compact in less than 2 hours at my range without a single problem. Accuracy was not even an issue, reliability was spectacular. The pricing can always be better but it's in the lower to mid range of prices for quality US MADE AMMO. You can always get cheaper Soviet era ammo but, I promise your weapon will not like it nor will you after dealing with cleaning and the corrosive-"non-corrosive" powders leave nasty residue all over your weapon.I trust this ammo so much that it will be the only ammo I shoot at my next Advanced Defensive Pistol Course with Mr. Farnam. This ammo shoots as good as anthing else and the price is great. No misfires or problems with this ammo. I mean you get what you pay for , but who has the money to buy topline ammo for plinking? will be buying more as soon as i run more of this through my ruger sr9c. (Posted on 2/19/2011)

I purchased a case of this and shot mainly at the range with no problems. I also used it for IDPA match with XD and didn't have any problems even on double taps so will use it again in the future. (Posted on 10/5/2010)
