Q: What is the muzzle velocity of this ammo?

Posted On: 10/21/11 By: Darrell

A: The muzzle velocity of this ammo as specified by the manufacturer is 3240fps.
Q: What is the highest quality .223 round that you have in stock?

Posted On: 10/21/11 By: Ralph

A: Federal Gold Medal Match 69 or 77gr Sierra MatchKing BTHP.
Q: Is this the best, and most accurate ammo for the money?

Posted On: 10/7/11 By: Keith

A: This is service ammunition, not match ammunition. If you are looking for the best (as in most accurate) ammo that you can buy in this caliber, look for match ammo loaded with a Sierra MatchKing bullet. If you are looking for reliable and "service accurate" ammo that won't break the bank, this Federal American Eagle ammo is a good choice.
Q: Relatively new gun owner here. What do seasoned firearm owners look for in ammunition? I don't fully understand what 55 grain full metal jacket boat tailed means. Can you help? Thank you.

Posted On: 9/28/11 By: Jeff

A: That depends on what they want out of the ammo. Grains refers to the weight of the bullet - there are 7000 grains in a pound. The heavier the bullet, generally, the longer it will be, and the more suited it is for long range shooting. A boat tailed bullet design aids in reducing bullet drop and wind drift at long range. These 55gr FMJBT bullets will be accurate out to 500 yards.
