I've purchased brown, silver, and gold Bear ammunition. All fire well, gold being the best. Silver's casing are vulnerable to corrosion issues etc. Brown's is the "best bang for the buck", but does not group as well and it's casing are not reusable. (Posted on 1/10/2014)

Q: Of course, steel cases are magnetic. I think John was asking about the projectiles. My range won't allow steel (or bi-metal jackets) in the projectile. I've seldom heard of a range that cares about steel cases. Do the Brown Bear projectiles contain steel? Are the Brown Bear projectiles magnetic? Thx.

Brown Bear ammunition is loaded with a bi-metal jacketed bullet. This means the bullet jacket is made with layers of copper and steel. As a result, the bullets themselves will attract a magnet.

These 123gr. FMJ rounds by Brown Bear in 7.62x39 do have a steel case so they will attract a magnet. For ranges that do not allow magnetic rounds, I would suggest a brass cased round.
