This shell’s wad and hull are both made out of special biopolymer. The hard, vegetable-based material is fully compostable. Microbes in the soil will gradually eat away at it until nothing remains. This process can take as long as two years, so it is still advisable to pick up the hulls as you’re able, although the wads themselves are brown to limit their visibility. The alloy hulls will also oxidize away into nothing over the years as well.
BioAmmo loads this 12 Gauge shell with high-quality lead shot. At 0.08” in diameter the #9 shot pellets are very small, suiting them best for hunting the most delicate birds – or skeet, if you so choose. This shell’s compostable wad is hinged at the base to reduce felt recoil, and its wide side vents enable the wad to erect four petals for greater stability as it detaches from the shot column. The Spanish manufacturer’s primers are completely non-corrosive.
BioAmmo shotshells can be stored in normal conditions for at least five years.
