This cartridge is loaded with Hornady’s very own 190 grain FTX projectile. Its signature feature is its Flex Tip, which is made of special polymer that’s just too soft to dent a primer. Jostling a rifle loaded with FTX ammo doesn’t put you at risk of accidental ignition inside the mag!
The FTX is way more ballistically efficient than a standard flat nose soft point. This round’s bullet clears a 10” barrel at a velocity of 1,620 fps, at which rate it acquires a 0.165 G1 BC that enables it to reach 100 yards without rising more than 2.2” above the bore line. It’ll reach a 100-yard target with ~682 ft lbs of energy, at which point its supple tip commences quick and lethal expansion.
Hornady’s state-of-the-art propellant produces consistently high velocities without generating more pressure than a rifle is designed to handle. Their cases are also reloadable, which is a big plus when you’re talking about harder-to-find ammo like 41 Mag.
