This cartridge sports a 77 grain bullet – over 70 percent heavier than the 5.56’s usual 55 grain projectile, which makes it retain more of its velocity as well as resist wind deflection downrange. The hollow point boat tail’s sleek profile and form-fitted core both greatly enhance its accuracy, although this particular hollow point bullet’s design will not yield expansion inside of soft tissue. As such its suitable for hunting game no larger than varmints.
Sellier & Bellot developed this ammo to suit the needs of police and military snipers. Its brass cases, Boxer primers and clean-burning propellant are all high-quality and carefully loaded for sure-fire functionality and accuracy in any rifle chambered for 5.56. Do note that such a heavy bullet exhibits the best accuracy in conjunction with a 1:8 or 1:7 twist barrel.
