A hunting bullet, as it turns out, makes an excellent solution for self-defense as well. This 223 Rem law enforcement round by Federal makes that point crystal with its GameKing bullet by Sierra.

This round’s 55 grain bullet is a hollow point boat tail, with a narrow teardrop profile which grants it admirable ballistic performance for a 223 projectile. At 3,220 fps out of a 24” test barrel the GameKing sets forth to show off a 0.25 ballistic coefficient. It withstands crosswinds while simultaneously preserving exceptional velocity downrange – 2,138 fps at 300 yards, at which point it’s still packing more than 550 ft lbs of energy!

But all GameKings are hunting bullets, so this isn’t the kind of HPBT you should solely employ at the rifle range. Following high velocity impact around 2,815 fps the GameKing consistently penetrates nearly 12” through bare ballistic gel. This round’s GameKing consistently demonstrates devastating effects even after having passed through the several types of urban barriers assessed during the FBI test protocol, making it a versatile solution for personal protection in a very uncertain world.

Federal doesn’t underserve law enforcement officers, nor do they underserve you. This round’s new brass case and clean burning, responsive explosive components are all expertly assembled to give you true peace of mind in ammo form.

Muzzle velocity: 3,220 fps
Muzzle energy: 1,266 ft lbs
