This is the kind of 20 Gauge ammunition that makes you glad you aren’t a pheasant. Federal Premium of Minnesota loads their Prairie Storm FS Lead line of shotgun shells with two different type of shot. One is highly injurious to birds. The other is even worse for them.

This shell’s one-ounce shot column is 70% copper-plated #6 lead shot, 30% FliteStopper #6 lead shot. The plated pellets are extra hard, which ensures they withstand acceleration without becoming too flat to pattern efficiently. The FliteStopper pellets have knife-like ridges surrounding their midsections, which slice through flesh or gouge wide wound channels into it depending on how they connect with the quarry. The shell’s smokin’ hot 1,350 fps muzzle velocity only makes its one-two punch that much deadlier!

This shell’s wad is also an impressive piece of engineering. The FliteControl Flex erects a ring of flat petals around its base that stabilize the wad in flight. They help to keep the shot pellets briefly trapped inside the shot cup for a split second before allowing them to pour evenly downrange. No matter your choke, the FliteControl Flex promotes an extremely effective pattern!
