Details

A spectacular value for proven ammunition by a major maker that utilizes components that have few peers in performance capabilities. This is a 1000 round case lot purchase of the venerable Federal Premium tactical line that features a 180 grain .40S&W projectile utilizing the Hydra-Shok framework. This is a premium personal defense or duty load that is priced well enough that many shooters can justify it for range use.

The Hydra-Shok projectile is known to be an aggressive expander and the grain weight retention has always been above average. Int his case the larger grain weight and the moderate velocity connected with it still offer great penetration for defensive purposes. This load is easily justifiable as a first choice for carriers everywhere of the .40 S&W firearms.

The impressive 1000 feet per second velocity and the 400 ft. lbs. of energy at the muzzle offers a nice bit of performance for the projectile to assert its dominance on a target. The Hydra-Shok is also a well-known, and consistently performing bullet.

This load is reloadable easily thanks to the nickel plated brass cartridge casing and the Boxer primer, though the price point may make that a moot point for many shooters given the excellent value for money proposition.
