We won’t sugarcoat it. Hevi-18 does indeed cost more than run-of-the-mill 410 Bore turkey hunting ammo. But all that extra money goes exactly where you want it to: TRUE TOM STOPPING POWER.
There’s no lead in this shell’s shot – but that doesn’t just mean it’s compliant with anti-lead hunting ammo laws. It’s loaded with Tungsten Super Shot, which, true to its name, is predominantly made out of tungsten: a metal that is only marginally less dense than plutonium.
Tungsten’s superior density over that of lead (18 g/cc vs. 11 g/cc) is why TSS lets you use much smaller shot for turkey hunting. A piece of #7 TSS has roughly as much stopping power as a #4 lead bead! That’s why this 3” round’s 13/16 ounce shot column contains 151 pellets instead of just 110. The result is a dense, hard-hitting pattern that can instantly tuck any tom into bed for good.
