The XTP cuts a straight path through the air thanks to its rotationally stable swaged lead core and concentric gilding metal jacket. The latter is tapered – thick in back, narrow in front – which helps the hollow point nose cavity yield expansion even when the XTP is moving at lower velocity. The XTP’s precision serrated and jacketed rim serves the same function.
There is no exposed lead on the XTP’s rim. The jacket prevents the lead cavity from getting too banged up by impact to function correctly as it penetrates flesh. Its hard rim also helps the XTP behave itself as it feeds into a lever gun, with which this Montana-made ammo is perfectly compatible!
