Ice fishing. Ice cream. Ice all over the place almost half of the year. Minnesota truly has it all. But what if someone ever tries to “ice” you? Then Minnesota can help you stop their assault, because the state makes great 40 S&W defense ammunition.
Federal Premium’s Punch label ammo is nothing ornate or fancy. It’s just made well – loaded in accordance with tight specs for quality, as well as the old Minnesotan ammo maker’s primo components.
This round’s 165 grain jacketed hollow point isn’t bonded, InterLock ringed or polymer tipped. It’s just a textbook example of a great, classic JHP: accurate, and outfitted with jacket seams which accelerate expansion at lower velocities. The 165 grain bolt of lead and copper hits 1,130 fps out of a 4” barrel. Supersonic; 460+ ft lbs striking energy if the threat’s close enough that you can smell what they had for lunch.
Sealed primers protect ammo against humidity in storage and rainfall outdoors. They don’t waterproof ammo per se, but they are welcome added protection all the same.
