- 500 Rounds of 9mm Ammo by Federal Syntech Training Match - 147gr Total Synthetic Jacket FN
Details
Ready to take your pistol training into the future? Get there with Federal, whose technologically advanced Total Synthetic Jacket obsoletes copper in favor of sophisticated polymer!
This 9mm cartridge’s 147 grain projectile’s purple jacket is more than just pretty. It shields the lead in its core against hot propellant gasses, making for a cleaner shooting environment. It creates little friction to lengthen a pistol barrel’s life span. It prevents the kind of metal fouling that gradually robs a weapon of its accuracy until it can be cleaned. And perhaps best of all, it minimizes dangerous splash-back, even when it hits a steel target! If you would utilize Federal’s HST ammo for self-defense, you will appreciate how closely this round simulates an analogous HST round’s performance.
This round’s Catalyst primer burns hot to provide near instantaneous ignition of the propellant, and doesn’t disperse heavy metals for the shooter to breathe in once ignited. The round’s new casing seats its heavyweight bullet nice and evenly, and warrants being saved if you like to reload your brass.

Fine for pistols, not for carbines

My fault for not reading the specs closer, but for your situational awareness: These worked fine out to 10 yards in my Glock 19X (that's just as far as I shot that day). Then I decided to load a few into my Ruger 9mm Takedown - these rounds just don't have enough blowback/recoil energy to eject the spent cartridge, much less chamber a new round. Again, I should have read more carefully, but FYSA don't plan to take these out rifle shooting. (Posted on 9/7/2021)

These are great practice rounds. I went thru 100 rounds with a IWI Masada. Up close... 3->5 meters they are great. But at 7 meters, they shoot low. It took me a few founds to see that and compensate for that.
But these "lipstick" rounds are great for close in practice. (Posted on 8/5/2021)

This stuff is awesome. Feels great, shoots great. Definitely a great practice equivalent to my Federal 147 FMJ and 147 HST carry ammo. One warning: ran this stuff through a brand new G19 Gen5….jammed on the fifth round so badly the gunsmiths at the range had to put it in a vice to work the action open to eject the live round. Best guess is the polymer coating caught on the feed ramp. Several folks that like the ammo recommended breaking in any new pistol with a couple hundred rounds of standard FMJ first. Bought this to be able to train with something that perfectly mirrored my 147gr Speer Gold Dot that my carry gun is zeroed for. Just shot a perfect FBI Qual with it last night so I'd say it's pretty dead on, even at 25 yards. Will be purchasing more. (Posted on 7/28/2021)

I've shot 1000 rounds through 3 different glocks. No issues, and my guns barely needed to be cleaned after using this ammo for a few different range trips. I got the 147 grain so it matches the same weight as my carry ammo. Wanted to test recoil, points of impact etc. I say great value because I got this for around the same price as 115 grain FMJ ammo at 1000 rounds. (Posted on 7/27/2021)

I shot 2 boxes (100 rds) through a Citadel match set-up 1911 9mm. Anything past 10 yards and it drops quickly! To double-check I changed to a box of Speer Gold Dot and weapon came back to me immediately... (Posted on 7/22/2021)

Q: could you include the muzzle velocity of these various rounds of ammo? Is this 147 grain 9mm considered subsonic?

A: Absolutely sir. I recently started adding MV and ME data to our product descriptions last year, but one of the older ones occasionally slips back into rotation when we get a product back in stock. I just updated this product description for you!
