Charles Horn founded Federal in 1922 and spent the early years distributing ammunition to barber shops, grocery stores, and gas stations. The company was eventually awarded a government contract to build and operate what is now known as the Twin City Ordnance Plant and, in fact, Federal was awarded an Army-Navy “E” for excellence for their part in multiple war efforts. Federal’s ammunition has also been used by Olympic marksmen to win gold medals. Over the years the company has gained a well-deserved reputation for quality and reliability, two things that are a must with ammunition.
