Optimized especially to feed and
eject reliably in the sometimes finicky actions of .22LR semiautomatics, these
Federal Automatch rounds are an excellent target and plinking load and come in
a large box of 325. These rounds are at the higher end of the standard velocity
range, with a tested muzzle velocity of 1,200 feet per second using a 40 grain
lead round nose bullet.
Federal Premium Ammunition manufactures a variety of .22LR cartridges for match, target, and plinking purposes. The company also produces a complete line of hunting cartridges in both soft-point (Power-shok) and hollow-point (Fusion) types as well as self-defense HSTs and Hydra-Shoks. my stock ruger 10/22 shoots these rounds pretty good and good accuracy for me. sometimes 1 inch groupings or less at 50 yards. i like this ammo even though it's plain lead. not very many problems after firing 3 boxes (Posted on 11/10/2020)

I have been using these exclusively for target shooting with my Ruger Mark III for over a year. Probably about 1500 rds total and experience a FTE 1 in 30-40 rds. I brought it to Ruger but they say there is nothing wrong with the weapon, and test fired 40 rds with no issues. I have two Mark III's and I have the same issues with each. I accept the fact that it is probably the ammo but I will continue to use these because a little inconvenience seems a small price to pay in order to keep my shooting costs as low as possible. All in all, it's a good choice for the money if all you're looking for is target ammo. I'll keep buying it from Bulk Ammo for my target shooting. (Posted on 11/26/2016)

Bought a few boxes of this to start my account as local retailer only seem to have to 100 count packs at twice the cost.
I chose all shipping options and received my order in three days. Very impressed.
Even with the shipping options I am sending .22's downrange for almost a penny a shot.

Cheap. A little disappointed in Performance. Shot pretty straight when you get a good load. Failed to load in all my pistol and 2 rifles 3-5 times out of 10. Bullets were lose in the cartridge. But they were cheap. I guess in all aspects. (Posted on 8/9/2016)

New box of ammo. Brand new Henry octagon bbl Frontier model lever action saddle rifle.
Out of first 10 rounds, 7-8 were all FTE ! Ammo looked fine. Rifle new from box.
Will try to send Henry back for exam/repair before trying different type ammo. This is just my experience, so ammo review may not be a fair eval.

I gravitated to this stuff because it was so cheap, and have probably shot 5 boxes of 325 LRN rounds through my S&W Model 617. Maybe only 2 or 3 FTF in all of that, but the amount of residue and lead splatter was astounding. I ran 500 rounds of CCI Standard Velocity thru in one session and the gun was cleaner than after running half a box or less of the Federal through. I clean this gun after every trip to the range, so it is very easy to compare. Yes, it is cheap, yes it is reliable in a revolver, but it is also very smokey and dirty to fire. (Posted on 7/25/2016)

I read that this ammo was better than the Remington Thunderbolt. I was very disappointed. I had many more FTF and FTE with this stuff than with the Thunderbolt. On cleaning my Uzi 22LR, I was pulling out huge chunks of lead from the barrel. (Posted on 6/22/2016)

Perfect rounds for plinking and target shooting. I was shooting these out of a brand new Ruger Mark III, and had 2 FTE which I thought was a little strange for that gun but have heard they are particular on what they like to eat. These occured about 300 rounds in though, and I had no FTF; maybe this is attributed to a new magazine and a dirty barrel? I'd probably come back to this type after shooting a few other brands to see if its just my picky gun. (Posted on 6/14/2016)

I have used this ammo in my new Ruger American Rimfire Compact with excellent results. With an after-market peep sight added, my rifle shot this ammo into a very small group on a 50 foot target range. We prefer this ammo for Boy Scout instruction because it is so accurate and never fails to fire. Similar results with a Ruger 10/22. This Ammo does not eject on my Mossberg 715P. I also have a 525 box of Remington that does not work and in fact it was worst. Tried CCI and shot over 100 rds without a problem. Is it the gun? I don't think so but it is always a possibility. (Posted on 4/26/2016)
