Details

You have a beef. A BEEF WITH PESTS. But you’re not a psycho, which is why you’re not trying to shoot squirrels off your trash bins with a 50 BMG rifle. You are inclined to take a more subtle approach to trifling creatures. You are going to enlist the 22 Short.

It’s the 22 LR’s little brother – a cartridge that can safely fire in a 22 LR firearm, but which is just too dadgum weak to cycle a semi-automatic. This 22 Short round’s 29 grain bullet is over 25% lighter than the 22 LR’s standard, and its muzzle velocity is WAY lower at 710 fps. That’s a good deal slower than sonic speed, so your ears are really in for a quiet report. And the striking energy at 50 yards? Just 28 ft lbs. A pest’ll feel that for sure, but we can think of many bullets more suitable for hunting Rocky Mountain elk.

Use this ammo for target shooting, if you prefer! There’s no gentler introduction to shooting for a youngster to wrap their precious little hands around (CHILDREN SHOULD ONLY FIRE GUNS UNDER SUPERVISION BY A RESPONSIBLE ADULT).

A: Thanks for reaching out Alan! This 22 Short ammo should work perfectly in a single-shot bolt-action 22 LR rifle. Lord knows I shot my fair share of red squirrels with that combo back when I was a kid.
