Tula ammunition in .223 Remington has been a mainstay in many people’s shooting supply closet for several years now and if you like and understand the different aspects of steel cartridges, this may represent a cheap option for you. It features a 55 grain hollow point bullet and is a good mid-ranged bullet as far as use cases, but is on the bargain import side of the pricing matrix.
The steel casings are non-reloadable generally and can be a bit finicky just like any steel cartridge, especially in firearms where the extraction process is not very aggressive, or where there are very tight chambering tolerances or feedways/ramps. Steel in general does not have the same lubricity as brass casings. This is not generally a TULA specific concern, but a note for general use of steel cartridges. The hollow point makes it suitable where lead is still allowed, for shooting larger game like deer, and this ammunition behaves very nicely with a shot here and a shot there. It is exceptionally reliable and accurate out of bolt action firearms or as a shot by shot placement in semi autos, as tens of thousands of shooters will attest to.
For those who understand how to utilize steel will be able to recognize the excellent costs savings and reliability of the TulAmmo brand and this load in particular.
