Probably for most, a more than $3 dollar a shot cartridge isn’t seen as a bargain. But this round can be an exception as it is a bargain play on one of the most trusted anti-materiel and anti-personnel rounds on the market. For long range precision tactical shooting this load has few challengers, let alone equals. The Sellier & Bellot factory 300 grain boat tail hollow point (the Sierra Match King) is a fantastic round for hunting, tactical shooting and sight work for long range precision shooting with your .338 Lapua.
In the realm of .338 Lapua, this is among the best price points and it is a very high-quality loadout. The interesting part of the equation is the Sierra match king projectile that is used in this round, ensuring you have some of the best ammunition money can buy when it comes down to precision shooting.
This 338 Lapua ammunition delivers 2,710 feet per second of muzzle velocity and a stunning 4,900 ft. lbs. of energy delivered at the muzzle gives a staggeringly large amount of impact on target. Perfect for the largest game hunting anywhere, or for showing off your prized bolt gun to friends, this ammunition is a lot easier to justify than rounds that can only marginally outperform it at a huge price premium.

We had 3 .338s shooting an 18"x18" plate at 800 yards. They hand load 300gr Berger bullets as I will do. They were on the plate 40% of the time and these bullets were on the plate 50% of the time in 15 mph cross wind right to left. At 1500 yards scope dialed up to 50 on elevation, I hit the 2'x2' plate 3 times out of 15 shots. The other two shooters managed one hit between them. Most of my shots were very close to target each time at both distances, hitting the frame the plate hangs on a few times.
Great performance and price. (Posted on 2/25/2020)
