A budget multi-purpose round for .38 super shooters. The American Eagle line represents a good compromise between self-defense round, and value plinking round. It isn’t a hard-core self defense round, but it doesn’t shortchange you on performance, and has excellent ballistics for a full metal jacket projectile.
Exiting the muzzle at 1200 feet per second and with a muzzle energy of 416 Ft. lbs. this is not a slouch of a round, (it is a +P after all) and can be used reasonably as a self defense round or a general purpose shooter. Note: this is a full metal jacket round. American Eagle is a consistent round, and offers a good value for the money, with clean burning powders and a peppy 130 grain projectile. Further enhancing the value, is the reloadable brass (new manufacture with Boxer priming).
These feed reliably in any modern firearm chambered in .38 super due to the tight tolerances and the shape of the projectile (FMJ conical). The +P powder load will easily cycle tight springs and gives you good extraction/ejection as well.
