This 40 S&W cartridge from CCI’s Blazer line of ammunition features a heat-treated aircraft-grade aluminum casing. The bulk of aluminum’s popularity as a casing material is owed to its lower cost than brass -- it’s a lot less expensive to get bauxite out of the ground than it is copper, so investing in these rounds is going to reflect that. As a side note, because aluminum only has one third the weight of brass, you’ll find these cartridges to be substantially lighter than comparable brass cased ones.
This cartridge sports a 155 grain bullet, which many consider the sweet spot for its caliber’s bullet weight. The bullet’s full metal jacket makes it ideal for long training sessions, as it will save your bore from the sort of lead fouling that will take you off target. Note that you oughtn’t use this round for self-defense -- that metal jacket gives it enough penetration to easily pass through a human-sized target.
