Ammo Overview

Quantity - 20 rounds per box; 10 boxes per case
Manufacturer - Federal Premium
Load - 2-1/2" with 1/2 oz. of #4 shot
Casing - Brass-based poly

Custom designed for self defense big bore handguns that are chambered in .45 Long Colt but accept and are dually chambered in .410, this is a very specific threat stopper with good, manageable recoil profile and a load of stopping power. The ½ ounce of #4 shot is a mean load out of a 2 ½” shell and the high quality build of the shells ensures the ultimate in reliability. The pattern is perfect for the trail with snake defense in mind, but the load is also a great home defense or personal protection choice for those who have committed to the large frame revolver for personal defense.

The Federal Premium Moniker might as well be a descriptor for the way the factory works on a quality control level, as the component selection, fit and finish and tolerances of these shells are excellent. Furthermore, the consistency in velocity and standard deviation in case deformation is exceptional. It all adds up to a very reliable performance out of a gun that would ordinarily be a lot to handle. The slightly lowered velocity of 950 feet per second helps to reduce recoil and allows for better follow up but the clean burning powder on this load make it an excellent choice for faster follow ups.
