The 50 BMG was designed for shooting down airplanes. Naturally, you would never so much as consider shooting down an airplane. It is too valuable a machine, and too great a testament to mankind’s engineering and ingenuity.
You use your 50 BMG rifle for the far more peaceable purpose of perforatin’ bullseyes. Commendable! And just the kind of pastime for which you’ll love Hornady’s Match ammunition.
Hornady used to load this ammo with A-MAX projectiles. They now load it with A-Tip Match bullets, which are chiefly different because their tips are made of precision-machined aluminum. Wow! That’s a long and sleek tip, and it even features the same Drag Variability Reduction Technology flat meplat that the ELD Match uses to improve drag uniformity and slash dispersion.
But its tip alone cannot account for such a bullet’s astronomically high 1.050 G1 ballistic coefficient. That’s also the doing of the A-Tip Match’s undeviatingly concentric Advanced Manufacturing Process (AMP) jacket, perfectly streamlined ogive and boat tail, and bearing surface which is not overly finicky about twist rate.
SAVE THAT BRASS! Hornady’s Match ammo features the Nebraskan master’s very best shells, which take after the AMP jacket in terms of uniformity and concentricity.
