Details

Hydra-Shok ammo made its first appearance in 1988 after the FBI asked for a carry round with better terminal ballistics.

Hydra-Shok, manufactured by Federal Premium, with its patented center post design and notched jacket features a non-bonded lead core that’s designed to have optimum penetration and consistent expansion. Upon impact, these rounds “mushroom” increasing the size of the round dramatically. In short, these hollow point rounds do some damage. These are great rounds for personal defense and provide the user with serious stopping power.

Federal Premium 9mm Luger Hydra-Shok 124gr Jacketed Hollow Point rounds are boxer-primed with nickel plated brass. This 124-grain projectile is a mid-grade weight falling in between the 115 and 147 grain. The various grain count selection is personal preference and depends on what you’re looking for your ammo to do. Typically, heavier grain counts can have a more powerful impact, but possibly have a higher recoil. Lower weight rounds may not impact quite as hard but have a smaller recoil. This round falls right in the middle, which is a good starting point if you’re unsure where you should be. Muzzle velocity is 1120 feet per second. Packaged with 20 rounds per box, 25 boxes per case.
