Q: Is this what is considered a "Tactical Load?" I've heard Tactical Loads are good for home defense and haven't seen any with that label, but I think this one fits the description because it is 00 buckshot with low recoil.

A: That is somewhat of a marketing term. This load would be a good choice for home defense, because, as you said, it is low recoil 00 buckshot.
Q: What's the velocity difference between the low recoil and the standard velocity from Rio Royal? I see that they're both 9 pellet OO.
Posted On: 9/28/11 By: Charles
A: The low recoil Rio Royal 12ga 00 buckshot has a muzzle velocity of 1200fps. The standard Rio Royal 00 buck has a muzzle velocity of 1345fps.
Q: I've used the Rio Royal Buck round before. What makes this one "Low Recoil"? Does it use less gun powder?
Posted On: 9/28/11 By: Alex Herrera
A: Recoil is chiefly a function of projectile weight, projectile velocity and firearm weight. Rio Royal has reduced velocity for these 12ga 00 Buck rounds from 1345fps to 1200fps, while keeping the weight (number of 00 buck pellets) the same, resulting in lower recoil. Firearm weight is, of course, up to you.
